    Rounding Numbers

    Example:  Round 6.85578 to the nearest ten thousandth

    Steps:

    1. Line up the number and place value chart.
    2. Underline rounding place digit:  6.85578
    3. Look one digit to the right of rounding place and compare that digit to 5:  6.85578
    4. If the digit is bigger than or equal to 5, increase the underlined digit by 1 and al digits to the right of the underlined digit stays the same and all digits to the right of it become zeroes.  Otherwise, the underlined digit stays the same and all digits to the right of it become zeros.
    5. Eliminate any ending zeros after the decimal.

    6.85578  -----> 8 is more than 5 so the answer is -----> 6.85580.  The final answer 6.8558.
