    Appendices serve as a supplementary section at the end of a document, such as a research paper, report, or (here) book. Their primary purpose is to include material that is too detailed, lengthy, or tangential to belong in the main body of the work, but which nonetheless supports its credibility, provides essential background, or offers further insight for interested readers. In general, this can include raw data sets, extensive technical calculations, detailed maps, lengthy transcripts of interviews, survey questionnaires, or copies of relevant primary documents. Here, I use the appendices to include material needed to understand the material in the textbook. By placing this particular material in an appendix, I try to maintain the clarity and flow of the main argument while still providing support for material you do not remember.

    In this textbook, I designed the appendices as technical repositories and practical manuals. They house the foundational tools and explicit computational instructions that underpin the methods discussed in the main chapters. To support your work, we have included three targeted appendices.

    • The Appendix of Matrices provides a concise review of matrix algebra operations crucial for understanding the general linear model.
    • The Appendix of R serves as a hands-on guide, offering specific code and workflow examples for implementing analyses in the R statistical environment.
    • The Appendix of Statistics collects key formulas, distribution tables, and proofs of fundamental theorems referenced throughout the book.

    Together, these three appendices allow the core narrative to focus on conceptual understanding and application, while ensuring you have immediate access to the mathematical, computational, and statistical reference material needed to complete your work.

    In other words, check these appendices for gaps in your knowledge.
