Through the support of the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office's Burden-Free Instructional Materials program, my college was able to support this second edition (and other projects!) through Zero Textbook Cost grants (CCCCO ZTC). I am thankful for my college's support and the CCCCO ZTC grants. And none of this would be possible without the dedication of the Academic Senate for California College's Open Educational Resources Initiative (ASCCC's OERI).
I am thankful to Dr. Eveland for suggesting that we write a behavioral statistics together years ago (to which I responding with a resounding "Nope!"). I am also indebted to Tabitha Raber and David Wymore for being the first faculty at Taft College to delve into OER. They gave me advice and support.
The creator and staff from LibreTexts were also instrumental in helping me understand how to develop a textbook in their system, and fix anything that I "broke"! I started the first edition over 5 years ago; a lot has changed at LibreTexts, but their helpfulness has continued. I lost my Mom between the first and second editions, but she was so proud of that first edition because of how profession LibreTexts makes the bound versions.
Through this support, I was able to learn more about online educational resources (OER) and statistics (and coding of equations!). I read several openly-licensed statistics textbooks that became the foundation for this compilation. In particular, Foster et al.’s (2021) An Introduction to Psychological Statistics was the starting point for many of the chapters. I also loved Navarro’s (2020) Learning Statistics with R- A Tutorial for Psychology Students and Other Beginners; she wrote a wonderfully enlightening and enjoyable statistics textbook. It would have been perfect if we were looking for a textbook to teach statistical software. Finally, Crump's Answering Questions with Data (also found at https://www.crumplab.com/statistics/) provided helpful pages, and supported most of the chapter on factorial design ANOVAs.
